School for the Hearing Impaired started in July,1992 with 4 students. Presently 67 Hearing Impaired Children are receiving education. 7 Special Educators provide education to these hearing impaired children. The number of students and educators keep changing. 1:8 or 1:10 maximum students given to one teacher in each class. As the students require lip reading and special attention of the educator.
Besides education extra-curricular activities, art and craft, sports, gardening etc. are being taught by the teachers in the school.
Haryana School Board education pattern is being followed. Well ventilated class rooms are there. Pure drinking water and separate toilets for boys and girls are available in the school. All the class rooms have ‘C’ shaped or ‘U’ shaped furniture. A sound treated room is available for Audiology and Speech therapy.
HOSTEL FACILITY FOR THE HEARING IMPAIRED STUDENTS
Hostel facility is available for the hearing impaired children who have no access to education in their nearby area. Facilities available to the hostler students are – well ventilated rooms, dinning hall, fans, room coolers, water cooler, safe drinking water, lights, geyser, clean and hygienic bedding etc. Indoor and outdoor games are also available for the students.
A Cook, two Helpers and a Matron are there to take care of their washing, cleaning, food and their home work respectively.
INTEGRATED OR INCLUSIVE EDUCATION TO DISABLED CHILDREN
Two special educators provide education to 104 disabled children in Jind and Safidon Blocks of District Jind, Haryana under the scheme of “Inclusive Education for Disabled at Secondary Stage”.
